Eunuch education stipend program

Although the Hijra community is a small part of the total population of Bangladesh, this community has been known as a neglected and backward group since recent times. The government has taken this program with the aim of ensuring the family, socioeconomic, educational system, accommodation, health development and social security of these people who are victims of discriminatory behavior in the society, bringing them into the mainstream of the society and involving them in the overall development of the country. According to the survey of the Department of Social Services, the number of transgenders in Bangladesh is about 10 thousand. 75 Hijras have been identified in Chandpur district so far. Identification is in progress.

 

This program started as a pilot program in 7 districts of the country from 2012-2013 financial year. This program has been launched in Chandpur district in the financial year 2013-14.

 

Aims and Objectives :

  • Providing stipends at 4 levels (primary 700, secondary 800, higher secondary 1000 and higher 1200 taka per month) in order to educate and develop school-going hijra students;

Service Delivery Procedures  ( In Brief ):

 

Upazila / City Social Service Officer publishes notification subject to receipt of allotment. Then the interested person has to apply online ( //mis.bhata.gov.bd/onlineApplication ) in the prescribed form. The received application has to be scrutinized by the union committee on the spot and sent to the upazila committee in the form of a proposal. Then the upazila committee scrutinizes and selects the beneficiaries according to the allocation. Bank account of Mobile Banking Cash Ltd should be opened in the name of the selected person / the mobile number of the guardian of the selected person. In GTUP system, the allowance or stipend is distributed by transferring the allowance or stipend money to the said mobile and notifying the selected person. 

 


 

 

Time required for receiving service :

 

1 . Within 03 months of application subject to receipt of new allocation ;

2 . In case of old or regular 07 working days
