The Bede community is a small part of the population of Bangladesh. According to a survey by the Department of Social Services, there are about 75,702 Vedic communities in Bangladesh. The nomadic community is known as the Vedic community. 99 percent of the Bede population are Muslims and 90 percent are illiterate. Among the Bede communities divided into 8 tribes are Malbede, Sapuria, Bajikar, Sandar, Tola, Mirshikari, Burial Sanda and Gain Bede etc. Their main occupations are petty trading, selling amulets and charms, treating snake bites, catching snakes, showing snake plays, selling snakes, spiritual health services, planting horns, selling herbal medicines, performing poetry, monkey plays, magic shows etc.
In the financial year 2012-2013, through a pilot program, the program for improving the quality of life of the backward and backward communities was started in 7 districts. But it started in Chandpur district in 2015-16 financial year. It is being implemented as a separate program from FY 2019-20.

Mode of service delivery (briefly): Upazila / City Social Service Officer publishes circulars subject to p. Then interested persons have to apply online (http://www.bhata.gov.bd/onlineApplication/) in the prescribed form. The received application is scrutinized by the union committee and sent to the upazila committee in the form of a proposal. Then the upazila committee scrutinizes and selects the beneficiaries according to the allocation. Opening of Mobile Financial Service 'Cash'/ Bank Asia Agent Banking Account in the name of the selected person and transfer of allowance money through EFT from the central account through GTP system is completed after notifying the selected person.
Trade based training is provided to working persons above 18 years of age. The trainees are provided with non-refundable financial assistance after the training.
