Education stipend activities for students with disabilities

In order to establish the constitutional rights of the disabled population and to help the poor, helpless, underprivileged children and youth with disabilities to get education, the education stipend program for disabled students has been introduced from the financial year 2007-08. Initially, the monthly stipend under this program was Rs 300 at the primary level, Rs 450 at the secondary level, Rs 600 at the higher secondary level and Rs 1000 at the higher level.

At present Rs.900 is being paid at primary level, Rs.950 at secondary level, Rs.950 at higher secondary level and Rs.1300 at higher level. In the past year, almost 100% success has been achieved in disbursing disability education stipend.

Service Delivery Procedures (In Brief):

Upazila / City Social Service Officer publishes notification subject to receipt of allotment. Students with disabilities identified in the survey and registered by the Department of Social Services and studying in educational institutions recognized by the government, whose family annual average income is not more than 36,000/-, the applications received online ( //mis.bhata.gov.bd/onlineApplication ) will be verified on the spot by the Union Committee. Selected and sent to upazila committee in proposal form. Then the upazila committee scrutinizes and selects the beneficiaries according to the allocation. Mobile Banking Cash Ltd account should be opened on the mobile number of the selected person / selected person's guardian. In GTUP system, the allowance or stipend is distributed by transferring the allowance or stipend money to the said mobile and notifying the selected person.

Time required to receive service :

Beneficiaries are selected within 03 months of receipt of new allotment.

As a regular beneficiary the allowance is transferred within 07 days.
